On November 1st 2024, KCDF participated in the launch of the One Acre Rule Smart Agriculture model, an agricultural initiative by CIM- Christian Impact Mission that promotes using a one-acre plot for agricultural activities aimed at ensuring food security and generating income. This model provides households with a practical approach to using one acre of land to apply best agricultural practices for maximum output. It emphasizes adaptable technologies, mechanization and digitization placing the youth at the fore front.
The event, held at CIM’s headquarters in Yatta – Machakos County, brought together various partners, including county governments, parastatals, development partners, the private sector, academia, and other stakeholders.
CIM is a faith-based organization that develops models and training tools to help communities grow and strengthen, especially those facing challenges from climate change and other disasters. Its focus is on supporting vulnerable communities to build resilience.
During the launch, KCDF Executive Director Ms. Grace Maingi congratulated CIM on this milestone and expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership between KCDF and CIM in community development. CIM was one of the earliest beneficiaries of KCDF’s grant initiative and has since advanced its efforts toward poverty eradication through the “Operation Mwolyo Out” campaign.
In her remarks, Ms. Maingi encouraged attendees to adopt local fundraising and support mobilization methods to leverage community resources, both in cash and in-kind, for development.
At the event, Bishop Titus Masika, the founder and director of CIM, was also honored as a national hero by the National Heroes Council.
