KCDF Empowers AJWS with Local Resource Mobilisation Skills
April 25, 2025This year marks a powerful milestone — 10 years of Change the Game Academy (Ctga) transforming how communities mobilise resources and advocate for their rights.
As a proud partner, KCDF celebrates this growth, empowerment, and resilience journey.
Over the past decade, KCDF has worked closely with CTGA to equip hundreds of community-based organisations (CBOS) across Kenya with skills in local resource mobilisation and mobilising support.
This approach has been game-changing in a time when international donor funding continues to shift or decline.
CBOs no longer depend on external aid—they are becoming self-reliant, raising funds locally, and building stronger, more sustainable futures for their communities.
But the impact goes beyond fundraising.
Through CtGA, communities have learned that advocacy is not an option — it’s a right.
Organisations are now confidently engaging with government stakeholders, demanding accountability, and pushing for development budgets that reflect their real needs. They’ve learned to amplify their voices, shape policies, and hold decision-makers to account — because development is not charity, it’s a right.

From remote villages in Turkana to the bustling neighbourhoods of Nairobi, the ripple effects of CTGA’s work are evident.
Schools have been built, water projects initiated, and health centres supported—not by waiting for help but by mobilising communities and resources from within.
Ushirika Primary School in Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya, is a testament to how Change the Game Academy has enabled them to raise KES 11 million locally to build the school and provide affordable education to the students in Kibera.
Ushirika School’s principal, Mr Wilson Aluda joined the school three years ago before the construction of new classrooms.
“Back then, the children in the class were sweating when hot, again when it rains, water would come through the iron sheets and disturb learning but right now with these good facilities, children sit comfortably, and they feel secure.
It has also helped improve academics; some have even gone to national schools.
Since the construction of the new buildings and a playground, the school prides itself on good performance and reduced absenteeism. “We have witnessed improved academic performance amongst our children because of giving them a good environment”.
For KCDF, being part of this journey has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve witnessed communities grow from dependency to determination. Leaders rise, voices get louder, and dreams become tangible realities.
As we mark 10 years of CtGA, we celebrate not just a programme, but a movement that has shifted mindsets, unlocked potential, and changed the game for thousands across Kenya and beyond.
Here’s to 10 years of impact. And to the many more ahead.
🎉 Happy 10th Anniversary, Change the Game Academy! 🎉
