The project titled “Deepening and Strengthening Capacities of Community Foundation Movement as a Basis for Sustainable Development in Kenya” is an initiative led by the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) with funding from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. With a total budget of KES 36,412,214, this two-year project will run from March 1, 2024, to February 29, 2026.
The primary aim of the project is to enhance the ecosystem of philanthropic organizations in Kenya by strengthening community organizations that embody key principles of community development. The project has three main goals: to enhance the organizational capacity of selected community organizations to facilitate sustainable, community-led development; to grow a movement of organizations practicing essential community organization tenets; and to promote the growth of diverse community assets.
To achieve these goals, KCDF will implement several key interventions. The co-creation process will engage partners in participatory assessments to develop tailored Institutional Strengthening Plans that address specific needs. Additionally, the project will provide technical assistance and training in sub-award and grants management to support partners in their roles as grant managers. Sustainability planning will focus on consolidating resource mobilization initiatives while ensuring effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, sustainability, and resiliency.
