On 15 February 2025, KCDF, in partnership with Isuzu East Africa, launched the Inspire Her Girls Mentorship Programme at Embakassi Girls Secondary School. This empowering initiative aims to equip young girls with leadership skills, mentor and nurture them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
At the launch, Programmes Director Caesar Ngule shared a powerful message about patience and embracing the ever-changing seasons of life. “Just a few days ago, we celebrated Christmas, then welcomed the New Year, and soon we’ll be looking forward to Easter. Time passes quickly, much like your journey through school. You joined Form One not long ago, now you’re in Form Two, and soon you’ll be preparing for your final exams. What truly matters is how you use this time. Focus on your studies, for this is the foundation of your brighter future,” he said.
Linda Njiru, Communications & CSR Coordinator at Isuzu East Africa Ltd also spoke to the girls, inspiring them to remain steadfast in pursuing their dreams, regardless of the obstacles they face. “It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from; what matters is where you’re going. Keep your eyes on your goals and stay committed to your future. Anything that distracts you from your path should be set aside. Be resilient, no matter what challenges arise,” she urged.
Linda shared her personal story of overcoming adversity. As the firstborn in her family, she struggled to attend university due to financial constraints. However, with determination and hard work, she secured a scholarship and eventually enrolled in university to pursue a degree in Communications. Her story was a testament to the power of perseverance, showing that where there’s a will, there’s always a way.
Additional mentors from Isuzu also spoke, emphasizing the importance of persistence, patience, and focus. They reassured the girls that no goal is too ambitious if they remain dedicated and focused on their dreams.
The Inspire Her Mentorship Programme will include ten interactive sessions, during which mentors will engage the girls in peer-to-peer learning on key topics such as sexual reproductive health, self-awareness, building self-esteem, and conflict resolution. Education is a core pillar of KCDF’s vision, and this initiative is part of our broader commitment to building resilient, flourishing communities.
