On 8th April 2025, KCDF provided capacity support to American Jewish World Services (AJWS) by offering training to their partner organisations on Resource Mobilisation and local fundraising. This initiative came in response to the recent shits in donor funding creating an urgent need for local organisations to become more self-reliant and financially sustainable.

The training, led by KCDF’s Mary Mwangi, Partnership and Resource Mobilisation Coordinator, and Hellen Kuria, Programme Coordinator—Community Voices & Philanthropy, aimed to build participants’ capacity to recognise and tap into local funding opportunities. It emphasised a shift in mindset, encouraging organisations to look inward and acknowledge the wealth of resources within their communities. Through interactive sessions and practical tools, participants learned how to strategically engage local stakeholders, build community ownership, and develop sustainable fundraising models tailored to their unique contexts.
KCDF’s extensive experience in community-driven development and capacity building makes it well-positioned to offer capacity support to other organisations through tailored training sessions, strategic planning support, or long-term mentorship. KCDF is committed to helping civil society organisations strengthen their resource base, reduce dependency on external funding, and build resilient, community-rooted solutions.
