Since 2012, KCDF has hosted a Community Open Golf Tournament to raise resources from its friends and partners alike to support various community projects that enhance and encourage local giving by matching every shilling raised in the tournament through a shilling-for-a-shilling (50:50) model. Through this model, which is also known as the matching fund, communities raise 50% of the total project cost towards their development project and KCDF through its partners matches the amount raised.
So far, through this model, KCDF has successfully implemented 200 projects raising over Kes. 160 Million towards community initiatives.
This year, KCDF will be holding its 12th community open golf tournament on the 22nd of March 2024 at the Karen Country Club to raise resources for supporting 5 community projects with Kes 5 Million under the shilling-for-a-shilling model.
The Matching Fund Model
The matching fund model has proven over time to create a sense of self-reliance and ownership among the communities, building their confidence in identifying, resourcing, and prioritizing addressing their development challenges.
