Building Capacity of Local Organizations through Change the Game Academy 

The Change the Game Academy, a programme partnership between KCDF and Wilde Ganzen Foundation, is supporting organizations at the grassroots level enhance their capacity in harnessing and growing their resources, as well as securing their basic rights and services from duty bearers.

Our goal is to provide an alternative working model to the dependency on foreign funding by supporting local organizations strengthen their fundraising and advocacy capacity. This unique programme encourages local organizations to value and adopt local resource mobilization as a form of constituency building, and as a way to strengthen their position as legitimate champions and defenders of diverse causes, with strong roots in the communities they serve.

Since its inception in Kenya and KCDF's experience in local fundraising through the Pamoja4Change programme, and delivering a blended approach on e-learning, KCDF has delivered this learning methodology to more than 100 organisations with these organizations having gone through the two courses currently on offer; Local Fundraising and Mobilising Support.

Classroom Courses and Coaching

The classroom courses on Local Fundraising and Mobilising Support are based on Kolb’s learning cycle and is interspersed by periods in which organizations test and implement their own plan. The training materials are adopted to the local situation in Kenya, and trainings delivered by local certified trainers. Once these organizations complete the course, they are attached to an individual coach who will walk with the organization to effectively realize their domestic fundraising and mobilizing support goals. 

Online Courses Platform

The online platform offers courses on Local Fundraising and Mobilising Support and has toolkits, inspiring local cases, a library and information on laws and regulation. The portal can be accessed worldwide free of charge. The platform has received the prestigious Comenius EduMedia Siegel award for outstanding products for ICT supported educational media.
