The livelihoods thematic area facilitates communities to mobilize resources and invest in community driven interventions that enable vulnerable communities in urban settlements generate and diversify their income with the overall aim of improving their quality of life.

The interventions benefit vulnerable people living in Kibera and other informal settlements in Nairobi. These initiatives enable urban poor to carry forth their developmental agenda of addressing poverty reduction, enhancing access to essential services such as sanitation, water and green energy, as well as strengthening their voices through deepening of people involvement in civic dialogue and peace building among different ethnic communities living side by side in these informal settlements.
